YouTube said in a blog post that it will increase the duration of Shorts to three minutes from October 15. This change will apply to videos made in square or taller aspect ratio. This will not affect the existing Shorts. The company said that it had received many requests from video creators for this feature. Additionally, with the template feature, creators will be able to keep up with new trends by creating familiar content. They will be able to match their clips with trending sounds and then customize them. Shorts can be recreated by selecting the Remix option and template.
Along with this, the company has said that it is launching Google DeepMind’s Veo video generation AI model in the coming months.
