Microsoft reveals, Windows 10 will get 2 major updates in 2017

Technology giant Microsoft has announced that the company will release major updates for Windows 10 next year. These updates will happen only after the third and final update on the occasion of Windows 10 Anniversary in 2016.

The company has a blog post “Windows 10 version 1607 is the third Windows 10 feature update we’ve released. Based on feedback from organizations moving to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update in 2016. There are two more feature updates to be released in 2017,” I wrote last week.

A Windows Central Report According to the company, the first major update for 2017 is codenamed Redstone 2. It will be released in early 2017 and the second update codenamed Redstone 3 could be released by summer 2017.

This update pattern is similar to the updates provided by Threshold. Like Threshold 1 before Threshold 2, Redstone 3 is a smaller update than Redstone 2. It also hints at a twice-yearly update cycle for the operating system.

The Redstone 1 update is also known as the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. These updates have been released for Windows 10 PC and tablet users from August 2. Microsoft announced the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update at the annual Build conference in March.
