While the world’s attention was focused on the launch event of the new MacBook Pro, Apple India quietly increased the price of MacBooks by up to Rs 10,000. This change in MacBook prices happened last week. And the Apple India website has been updated to reflect the new prices.

The price of the 12-inch MacBook now starts at Rs 1,12,900, which is Rs 6,000 more than last October. The prices of the entire Mac series were also updated in October last year. The retail price of the MacBook Pro with faster processor and double SSD storage has now increased by Rs 10,000 from Rs 1,29,990 to Rs 1,39,900. The prices of MacBook in the US have not been changed. Please note that these are maximum retail prices and these products may be available at a lower price at online and offline stores.

The MacBook was updated in April this year with sixth-generation Intel Skylake processors, faster RAM and PCIe-based flash storage. Apart from the Space Gray, Gold and Silver variants, a new Rose Gold colour variant was also made available.

The MacBook is Apple’s current smallest portable Mac, following the discontinuation of the 11-inch MacBook Air. If the 13-inch MacBook Air doesn’t become available in the near future, the MacBook is expected to be updated and positioned as the new entry-level portable Mac.
