‘Lava Blaze Curve 5G’ First Impression: About 10 years ago, when Chinese companies did not dominate the Indian smartphone market, Lava, Karbonn and Micromax ruled the roost. Times changed and the storm of brands like Xiaomi and Vivo put the Indian brands out of competition. However, now Lava has stood up again. This time too, the challenge is from Chinese companies, there is pressure to provide technology similar to them or better than them at a lower price and ‘Lava’ is constantly handling this pressure. The ‘new beginning’ with Lava Agni 5G has now reached the launch of Lava Blaze Curve 5G. This smartphone is an attempt to include every feature that people want in the under Rs 20,000 category. The starting price of Lava Blaze Curve 5G is Rs 17,999. The company has sent us its IRON Glass color variant for review. How did the new Lava phone with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage feel during initial usage? Let’s know in the first impression.

There is Lava 5G branding at the bottom of the back side. There are three circular camera bumps on the top, in which the rear cameras are fitted. LED flash light is provided separately. The IRON Glass color variant gives a premium feel and gives a glimpse of Vivo X50 Pro, which was launched about two and a half years ago in the range of Rs 50 thousand. Even after using it for 4 to 5 days without a TPU case, no fingerprints appeared on the back of Lava Blaze Curve 5G.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G has a 6.67-inch Full HD Plus punch hole display. This is a curved AMOLED display, which makes the display chin almost negligible and the phone has a raised screen from the front. The display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which presents the screen in a smooth manner.

The peak brightness of 800 nits seemed average to me. Colours were sharp in indoor use. There was no problem visually. There was no problem in reading e-paper and watching YouTube videos. The brightness of the display seemed to fade a bit in bright sunlight. However, it supports Widevine L1 certification, which enhances the experience of watching content on Netflix etc.
