An attempt has been made to make itel A70 meet 3 criteria. First- design, second- specifications and third- price. Itel has claimed to include everything that a common Indian user wants in his phone in itel A70. It does not seem at all from the look that there is a ‘cheap’ device in hand. If the other person asks about the features, you can silence him by telling about 256 GB internal storage. Although this is not a 5G smartphone, it can be suitable for those who want to shift from feature phone to smartphone or are looking for a ‘beautiful’ device at a low price.
itel A70 comes in a red colour compact box. The box contains the phone, charger, charging cable, phone cover and user manual. It is important to mention the phone cover here. Instead of a transparent TPU case, itel A70 has a black colour non-transparent designer cover. Apart from being trendy, it is quite flexible and fits comfortably on the phone. The AWESOME branding is engraved on the case cover, which is also visible on the phone.
The back design of itel A70 touches the heart at first sight. 3 medium size camera bumps are carved in the top left. AWESOME is written at the bottom to indicate that this design is the brainchild of itel. The back of itel A70 is made of glass. As soon as light falls on it, bright dotted patterns and linings are visible, which give the phone a trendy look. Even after using it for a long time, there were no fingerprints on the glass back. The frame of the phone offers a matte finish and does not slip from the hand due to rounded edges. We did not find any connectivity port in the top frame of the phone. A 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C port and speaker grill are provided at the bottom.
The power button and volume rocker were on the right side. The ‘SIM tray’ was placed on the top of the left side. The power button of the phone also works as a fingerprint sensor, which is a good feature for less than Rs 8,000. The front design of the itel A70 is decent. The company claims that the screen to body ratio is 90 percent, although we found the display chin a bit thick. I have no complaints with the water drop notch in this range. Another feature of the itel A70 design is that it is lightweight. The phone was not very heavy even with the cover on.
itel A70 has a 6.6-inch LCD HD+ display. The display has a resolution of 720×1612 pixels and the brightness is up to 500 nits. ‘Dynamic Bar’ is an important feature of this phone, which was once the identity of the iPhone. This is a smart assistant, with the help of which basic notifications are highlighted.
Considering the price, we found the display of itel A70 to be fine. There was no problem while using it indoors. The colours were smooth and there was no problem in reading the content. Due to the fog in Delhi, we could not test the display of the phone in sunlight.
itel A70 has UniSoC T603 processor, which is accompanied by 4 GB RAM. The phone has memory fusion technology, which means that the phone’s free storage can give its RAM an additional 8 GB of power. Any user will need this when he uses the phone heavily.
The UniSoC T603 is an average processor and is common in this price range. In initial use, the phone was performing well, but performance cannot be judged so quickly. My review unit has 4GB RAM and 256GB storage.
itel A70 has a 13 megapixel super HDR back camera. An 8 megapixel selfie camera is given in it. There is also a flash light in the back. The camera app has modes like photo, portrait, low light, wide selfie. Some initial pictures taken from the phone seemed average to us. We will take more time to test the camera performance. The good thing is that this phone can record video in 30fps 1080P, it will also have to be seen how its results come.
itel A70 has a 5000mAh battery, which has a Type-C port for charging. A 10W charger comes in the box, which will probably take more than 2 hours to fully charge the battery. In initial use, we found the battery to be powerful, but its actual performance will be known after a few days. This phone runs on Android 13 Go Edition, so that lightweight apps can be opened and closed easily.
