Android smartphone’s music will be controlled from computer, Microsoft is testing the feature

Microsoft is testing a new feature that will allow Android users to control their smartphone’s music through a Windows 10 computer. Users will be able to access and control their Android smartphone’s music directly through the computer’s Your Phone app. Currently, this feature is limited to the ‘Your Phone app’ working on the latest Windows build, while Microsoft has said that gradually this Your Phone app will be rolled out for version 1.20041.82 and above. Your Phone app has been developed by Microsoft for Windows 10 so that it can be connected to Android devices. With the help of this app, not only music but also phone calls and photos present in the phone can be accessed on the computer.

Microsoft has its Blog The post says that users can use this app to play, pause and switch the music playing in their smartphone’s audio app. The music apps that Your Phone desktop app can control include Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Xiaomi Music, and Google Podcast, etc. The post says that if permission is given by your phone, by default the Your Phone app will show your phone’s playing music on your computer.

Regarding the system that will support this feature, Microsoft has clarified that this feature will be available only on those computers that are updated to Windows 10 after October 2018. Apart from this, your Android phone should work on Android 7 Nougat or a version above it.

Microsoft also clarified in its blog post that while they were testing this Your Phone App music control feature, they saw some problems, which are as follows-

1. Some audio apps support the previous track, while some support ‘rewind track’.

2. Currently, YouTube videos and audio are not supported on this feature.

It is worth noting that earlier this month Microsoft added a new feature to the Your Phone desktop app, in which Samsung users can drag and drop files from their phone to Windows 10 computer with the help of Wi-Fi. However, once again this feature was available only for Windows Insider Build users.
