Large consumer electronics companies like Acer are planning to increase their participation in the Make in India campaign. Acer considers India as one of its primary markets and has announced plans to expand in the country through new segments such as consumer electronics, AI PCs, and e-mobility.

In the coming years, Acer aims to introduce more eco-friendly technologies to fulfill its commitment to becoming carbon neutral within a specified timeframe. The Make in India campaign, initiated by the Modi government, focuses on increasing investment, promoting innovation, improving skill development, and establishing the country as an international manufacturing hub.

Acer intends to collaborate with local Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) to tie-up for its IT hardware products, including desktops, laptops, tablets, servers, and workstations. Jason Chen, the CEO of Acer, stated that there are significant opportunities for innovation and expansion in the country.

Recently, Acer shared its goal at COP28 in Dubai, emphasizing the development of environmentally conscious technology, particularly in creating AI-enabled laptops under the ‘Conscious Technology’ initiative. One of the series mentioned is the Aspire Vero, with Acer committing to carbon neutrality for this laptop series, starting with the Aspire Vero 16.

To attract substantial investments in IT hardware manufacturing, the central government announced a two billion dollar manufacturing incentive scheme. The government aims to increase annual electronics production to $300 billion by 2026. Major companies involved in selling laptops in the country include Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, Samsung, and LG. However, a significant number of laptops are still imported, especially from countries like China.

South Korea’s Samsung, known for manufacturing smartphones and laptops, is expected to launch its Galaxy Book 4 series in India. This series, including models like Galaxy Book 4 360, Galaxy Book 4 360 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 Pro, and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, may replace the previously launched Galaxy Book 3 series.
