itel P55+ has been designed around three points. First- design, second- specifications and third- target consumers and their needs. The only thing that is missing is that it is not a 5G smartphone. This shortcoming could have been forgiven if the price of the phone was less than Rs 8 thousand, but in the price range of Rs 9499, we would expect a 5G smartphone from a brand like itel.
itel P55+ comes in a red colour box. It comes with a 45W charger adapter, a Type-A to Type-C cable, transparent TPU case, SIM ejector pin. After looking at the phone at first glance, it is hard to believe that it is a phone under 10 thousand rupees. There is no itel branding on the back of the phone. ‘Power’ has been written to surprise people. Before the launch, we gave this device to some people and asked them to guess the price based on the phone design. Everyone said that it is a phone above 10 thousand rupees.
What adds to the beauty of the design of itel P55+ is its back, which is with a vegan leather finish. The finish seen in the Royal Green color variant does not look cheap at all. It offers two color tones. The bottom part is a bit dark and has dotted lines. The power branding is also there and matches the color. There is a color light on the top, so that the camera bump can be highlighted.
itel P55+ has two circular camera bumps and the LED flash is placed next to it. The power button and volume rocker are given on the right side of the phone. There is a SIM tray on the top left. We did not find any port on the top. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C port, single speaker grill at the bottom.
I checked the vegan leather finish of itel P55+. The most important thing is that it does not leave fingerprints. It did not get damaged even when scratched with nails. However, if used for a long time without a TPU case, it can get dirty with dust and dirt. The phone’s display has a punch hole in the middle. The display chin is better from the top, but seems a bit thick from the bottom. The phone is lightweight. I was able to use it with one hand without any problem.
itel P55+ has a 6.56 inch HD+ display, which has a resolution of 720×1612 pixels. It offers a 90Hz refresh rate, which will give users a smooth feel. Despite the HD+ resolution, the display impressed as the colors were emerging sharp. Visually, we did not face any problem. I was able to read the e-paper comfortably. The color-contrast balance was also good in YouTube videos. However, there was some trouble in bright sunlight.
itel P55+ has a dynamic island, which the brand calls dynamic bar. It appears around the front camera, on which notifications like charging, face unlock status are visible. This feature is a big feature of this phone and people may like it, because even expensive Android devices do not have the facility of dynamic island.
The itel P55+ is equipped with Unisoc T606 Octa Core processor with iboost. It also has 8GB of RAM. With the help of Virtual RAM feature, RAM can be extended up to 8GB. Unisoc processors are being used in all itel phones. The itel A70 launched in January had UniSoC T603.
Talking about performance, itel P55+ was performing well in initial use. However, the strength of the phone cannot be judged so quickly. At this price, the option of 256 GB storage can attract people.
The phone has a 50-megapixel dual AI camera. An 8-megapixel selfie camera has been provided. The camera app has modes like Beauty, Portrait, Super Night. There is also a separate mode for short videos. The phone’s camera does not take 50MP photos by default. For high resolution images, one has to switch to Ultra mode. 30fps 1080P videos can be recorded from the back camera.
itel P55+ has a 5000mAh battery. A 45W charger is provided in the box to charge it. The brand claims that the phone’s battery gets charged from 25% in 10 minutes and from zero to 100% in 72 minutes. In initial use, we found the battery to be powerful, but it will take time to find out its actual performance.
The itel P55+ may appeal to those who want a trend-setting budget device and also need features.
